Great Guided Tours :-)

P3/4/5 are very excited to take you on a guided walk of the Craigmonie woodland or to the Cover. All pupils have worked very hard to create interesting and detailed maps and will share all their learning about trees, plants and wildlife of the area. Look out for the maps in school bags today! They can keep their maps at home but if the Key Assessment sheet could please come back to school. Don’t worry if you don’t have time for the walk before Thursday as your child can take you on the walk during the holidays and the sheet can be returned in August. We would love you to email Miss MacDonald with photos of you on your walks! Have fun!

P.S A few pupils are still finishing their maps so will take them home on Monday.

Jam-packed June :-)

June is certainly jam-packed full of activities and learning experiences! P3/4/5 have had a busy time!

We were delighted that you were able to join us for a fun filled, sunny Sports Day! P3/4/5 showed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the day!

We have all been working hard towards our Woodland Trust Platinum Award and our John Muir Award. We will be sharing our learning with you all and started work on our guided trails. We are really looking forward to sharing these with you this week!

We have been learning and revising our times tables. We have looked at word problems, using arrays, written multiplication and practising our quick times tables answers.

We had a go at a’ Live Code-along’ with lots of other schools around the world! We gave it a good go although it was a bit quick! We are going to use the Microbits next week to have another try!

P3/4 walk to Craigmonie Wood tomorrow (Tuesday 14th)

P3/4 will be visiting Craigmonie Woodlands tomorrow (Tuesday 14^th June), Thursday 16^th June and Thursday 23^rd June.  Your child will need sturdy trainers or wellies, waterproof jacket, long sleeved top and trousers.  Other requirements will be weather dependent ~ suncream, hat, midge repellent.  Parents are welcome to join us on Thursday 16^th and/or Thursday 23^rd June.  Just send me a quick email if you would like to join us. We will be leaving at 9:30am and returning between 11 and 12 o’clock.

P5/6 trip to The Cover (Monday 13th) Remember your wellies and gardening gloves!

P5 & P5/6 pupils please remember your wellies, a small snack, waterproof jacket, long sleeved top and long trousers for Monday’s trip to ‘The Cover’. We will be carrying out our conservation work by clearing the lupins so gardening gloves would be useful too! We will be leaving at 9:30am.

P3/4 woodland walk tomorrow (Monday)

P3/4 will be completing activities to work towards the Woodland Trust’s Platinum Award in Craigmonie Woods.  Our final project will be creating a woodland trail to teach the school and wider community about the animals and plants that live in the woods.

On Monday 23rd’s visit we will be focusing on identifying plant and tree species.  Pupils will need suitable footwear, a waterproof jacket, long trousers & a long sleeved top.  Pupils could take their own gardening gloves if they have some.  Other requirements will be weather dependent ~ suncream, hat, midge repellent.

Busy, busy week for P3/4!

This week flew by! P3/4 had a busy week starting their work on our Woodland Trust Platinum Award. Pupils completed independent research on woodland animals including facts about their appearance, homes, what they eat. They then created beautiful woodland art using natural materials. We will focus on leaves and trees and plants on our woodland walk on Monday..

We have all been working hard on written subtraction with 2, 3 or 4 digit numbers and will keep practising this next week. We have also been learning our ‘wh’ question words for spelling what, where, when, why, which and who or other tricky common words.
